A total of 344 high school students throughout the city of Padang participated in the selection of candidates for the Heirloom Flag Raising Troop (Paskibraka) at the Padang City level in 2022, Tuesday (29/3/2022).
The selection was carried out at the Field BKOM UPTD and West Sumatra Pelkes which were officially opened by the Mayor of Padang Hendri Septa.
In his direction and speech, Hendri Septa explained that the Paskibraka selection was very important for the younger generation.
According to him, Paskibraka members don’t just raise the red and white flag, but they want to achieve even bigger things, namely the cultivation of national values, love for the homeland and respect for heroes for the younger generation.
“Therefore, considering the importance of this selection, it is hoped that all participants will take part seriously in order to obtain maximum results,” said Hendri Septa.
“The prospective members of the Padang City Paskibaraka must be able to become a tough young generation and have a strong commitment to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Hopefully, the elected Paskibraka members of Padang City will be able to represent West Sumatra and even if they can pass the selection at the national level. So with that, we can immediately fly the Red and White flag at the Palace at the moment of the 77th Indonesian Independence Day Commemoration Ceremony at the Palace,” added Wako while encouraging.
At the same time, the Head of the Padang City Youth and Sports Service (Dispora) Afriadi stated that the purpose of the selection for the Padang City Paskibraka candidate was to select participants who would represent the City of Padang for the selection at the West Sumatra level.
“We will conduct the selection of candidates from March 29 to April 2, 2022. The participants are delegates from high school students throughout the city of Padang, grade 10.
Of the 344 participants, 156 were male and 178 female. The selection is carried out by trained personnel from Purna Paskibraka Indonesia (PPI) Padang City,” he said. (pt)
